The Royal is also celebrated for its thoughtfully crafted beverage selection. Whether you fancy a locally brewed beer, enticing cocktails like the California Sour or the Shaft Cocktail, or prefer to sip on one of their refreshing non-alcoholic options such as the Strange Fellows or Clever Girl, each drink is made to complement the flavors on the plate and enhance your overall experience.

Greg Or fondly notes the “decent choice of drinks” paired with quality live music that makes for a relaxing stop, while Geko Pablo praises the impeccable service and delicious food, even if a touch on the pricier side, emphasizing the value is in the quality and atmosphere. Erik Patterson’s words capture the spirit perfectly: “Easily the best place to grab a bevvie in Nelson,” complete with welcome smiles and compelling cocktail creations. The live music scene adds an irreplaceable charm, drawing music lovers to enjoy everything from bluegrass to country, with bartender Katie often recognized as a key part of the enjoyable evening flow.

We stopped here for a few pints and a little rest. They have a decent choice of drinks to choose from and the live music was good. It can be a bit of a wait for a seat on the patio, so get there earlier than the crowds if you want in. Otherwise there is plenty of seating inside. We didn't try the food, but the fried chicken looked good, so I think a return trip is in order.
Had a great experience here not only on the patio for early evening beverages and snacks, but also for a live band venue. Service was great, food delicious (a little pricey perhaps but good quality). The ambience for the live band was a huge part of the charm of this place. Going up to the bars for our own drinks worked best all while the staff was busy ensuring the table clutter was cleared. The pillars block the view from most booths but hey, if the music is great you are not sitting down. The line up of the musicians they attract is amazing and we wish wish we had a place like the Royal in our home town.
Easily the best place to grab a bevvie in Nelson. Themed cocktails and great happy hour prices with staff that are friendly & welcoming. We will always stop by for one (or several) when we're in town!
A smaller bar at night and restaurant during the day. Katie was an amazing bartender/bossgirl Was a bunch of country bluegrass bands this night
Fantastic fried chicken joint! Had their burger month special and it was phenomenal. Lots of flavour and the atmosphere was fantastic. Live music was free on the night we went.
We researched a Gluten Free Restaurant and checked the menu. Looked good, sat down and had tons of fried chicken items showing Gluten Free. We asked our waitress. She said they make their own in house breading with rice flour. All deep fryers are gluten free as there is no gluten in the restaurant other than store bought buns. The food was fantastic, I haven’t had fried chicken in years since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I took a chance and everything was great.
My guy and I went here for lunch today and it was fabulous. We sat on the deck outside enjoying the sun and hustle and bustle of Baker Street at it"s best. George had the double royal burger with onion rings and they were the best I've ever had hands down! From the taste to the texture, everything was on point! I had the chicken burger with a poutine and it was amazing as well! Our server was cool and friendly and the host was inviting and kind, even wiping down our seats outside from the recent rain! 100% awesome experience!
